For over sixty years, Sterling represented a distinctive approach to education grounded in experiential learning, environmental stewardship, community engagement, leadership development, and meaningful work. Students learned not only in classrooms but in forests, farms, watersheds, communities, workshops, and on expeditions. They learned through service, responsibility, creativity, and direct engagement with the world around them.
